We are looking for a Tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor - Non-equilibrium Soft Matter
You will build a research group in the field of non-equilibrium and /or active soft materials. We seek a candidate with a strong established track record in experimental soft matter or biophysics, who is scientifically excellent, as proven by an excellent publication record, and capable to attract funding. You will combine an understanding of non-equilibrium physics with an affinity for molecular systems and/or biology. Possible areas of expertise may include (but are not limited to) active (molecular) materials, non-equilibrium physics in soft matter or biology, quantitative method development and non-equilibrium mechanics. You will develop your own research line, attract research funds for this, and build up a leading international position. As a teacher, you will guide and motivate our students – both at introductory and more advanced levels - and develop new courses.

• a successfully completed academic study in physical chemistry, (bio)physics, chemical engineering, or comparable discipline (MSc level, recognized in the Netherlands)
• a PhD in soft matter chemistry or physics or a comparable discipline
• knowledge and expertise in polymer science, colloids, soft matter
• outstanding research achievements and an excellent track record of publications in leading journals
• experience with management of complex projects
• experience with acquisition of research funding, as shown for example by awarded scholarships or grants
• an (international) network and the communication skills required for competitive (international) project acquisition
• didactic qualities and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students
• the ambition to develop to full professor in a Tenure Track system.

You will be a member of the chair group Physical Chemistry and Soft Matter of Wageningen University, which is an active and internationally oriented group of researchers. The group offers expertise in colloids, inhomogeneous polymer systems including self-consistent field modelling, self-assembly of amphiphiles including lipids and (bio)polymers (employing various mechanisms of assembly) and non-linear rheology of soft matter systems. Our research aims at development of the scientific field as well as application in typical Wageningen themes such as food and environmental sciences. You can rely on a well-equipped laboratory with techniques such as (light) scattering, AFM, rheometry, mechanical analysis, confocal and TIRF microscopy, optical tweezers, ellipsometry, calorimetry, surface characterization methods, and facilities for polymer and colloid synthesis, as well as technical support for custom-made equipment.
